students place flags in front of the high school

At Cave City High School, 42 students (including Key Club members) spent over 100 hours making 649 flags to recognize current and former military personnel. Each flag is labeled with a name and their service branch, color coded by branch and placed with the appropriate banner in front of the High School campus.

We encourage you to walk through the display and give thanks for all who have served our country. Names were submitted by students and community patrons.

Meanwhile, the Strawberry River Chapter of the Daughters of the Revolution presented Cave City Elementary with two books this past week in honor of remembering those who have served our country. The music room received a book on John Philip Sousa, a leader in military marches, and the library received a book on spies in the American Revolution. Thank you Strawberry River Chapter for your donations!

Mrs. Candi Thorne's class has spent the past week studying Veterans Day and the importance of honoring those who served. Yesterday they held a special program for our families and veterans in our classroom. They wanted to say a huge thank you to all of those who came and especially to all the veterans both present and not. Thank you for your service!

We are grateful for those in our community who served to protect our community, and for our students who actively organized and participated in ways to honor them.
